Self-awareness

The techniques pair with the YELLOW sides of your EiDie.  Please use them on a regular basis to encourage growth of your emotional intelligence and positive culture within your team.

The YELLOW sides

1

Lean into your discomfort

Make a list of things that create the feeling of discomfort.

Some examples:

  • Public speaking

  • Speaking up in a meeting

  • Asking questions – do not want to sound dumb

  • Saying hello to a stranger

Lean into this feeling of discomfort to figure out the story vs fact you are telling yourself. This is what is causing your feeling of discomfort and by identifying the cause, you can find or practice ways to overcome.

Make a plan for how you will practice leaning into your key areas of discomfort. Document how it went and if you overcame the feeling of discomfort.

2

Reflect on one thing you did that affected someone positively today

Journal the action or words and how it affected someone positively. Is this an action you could add to your daily routine?

3

Observe how you're feeling in this moment

Take a moment throughout the day to document how you feel at that time. Do you know what is causing the mood? Is it positive or negative? Story or facts?

4

Challenge yourself to try something new today

We all get stuck in a rut! Try something different that might be outside your comfort zone or something you always wanted to do but did not make the time. Journal the activity and how it made you feel. Share it with someone else.

5

Seek feedback from a colleague

While seeking feedback, focus on being open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism. Be pro-active today. You do not have to wait for someone to provide it; Seek feedback from a colleague. If you have a presentation or need help understanding a story from facts, use a colleague.
