Practice a mindful moment via Headspace

Use a tool like Headspace practice breathing exercises such as 1 minute of square breathing or choose another exercise that fits your mood today.  Speaking of moods, how are you feeling?

Take control of your self talk

Focus on your internal voice and how you talk to yourself.  Observe this throughout the day.  Practice by journaling when you have negative self-talk or create a story. Identify the facts and a positive way to speak to yourself.  Try using phrases such as: 

  • I am confident 

  • I can do hard things 

  • Fear is only a feeling 

  • Focus on the solution/facts 

  • How did using positive talk change your tone/day?

Visualize yourself succeeding

Close your eyes and practice visualizing your success. What does success look like to you? How do you feel when you envision your success? Then journal about what you envision and the steps you will take to reach that goal. Putting your vision down on paper will also helps to make a vision board of what success looks like to you.

Take time to set your goals for the day, week, month, or year

Give yourself the time to focus on your goals today.  Make sure to set an hour aside to identify key activities or goals you want to accomplish for the day (week, month, or year). What does a good outcome look like for those goals? 

 

Next, break the goals into attainable hourly, daily, or weekly tasks or "chunks" of work.  

 

Lastly, calendar your goals with what good looks like, estimate the time you'll need to accomplish each, then prioritize the workable "chunks" by level of importance.

Create or update your "calm-down" or relaxation space

With so much remote work, personal and family life easily bleeds into work life.  Take time today to ensure you have created a space that allows you to calm down or decompress from personal and/or work life.  For some, this space will energize their creative side as well.  Check out the tools below to help you on your way to building the perfect "calm-down" space.
